The Croatia international, who predominantly plays as a centre-back but can also deputise as a left-back, has been linked with a move to the Premier League champions, as well as Chelsea and Liverpool this summer.
However, it appears only a matter of time before he signs on the dotted lines at the Etihad with the Daily Mail reporting the deal has moved into the final stages.
The 21-year-old will become Pep Guardiola's second signing of the summer after Gvardiol's international team-mate Mateo Kovacic was signed from Chelsea in a £25m deal earlier this month.

However, City's hefty outlay so far is set to be offset by the sale of Champions League and Premier League-winning winger Riyad Mahrez, who is set to become the latest European star to join the Saudi Pro League.
The 32-year-old, who joined the Citizens in a £60m deal from Leicester City five years ago, has two years remaining on his current deal at the Etihad but is now set for a move to Al Ahil. According to the Mail, Mahrez will undergo a medical on Wednesday and will sign a three-year contract in the Gulf state, where he will become team-mates with former Liverpool ace Roberto Firmino.
