Chelsea transfer news: The Blues are in the market for two new midfielders with Mauricio Pochettino dropping a major hint to Todd Boehly
Kendry Paez and Dujuan Richards are not due to officially began their Chelsea careers until they turn 18. Meanwhile, despite clearly being players for the future, Diego Moreira and Angelo Gabriel have been given senior opportunities in pre-season. Loan moves for both do appear likely, but Pochettino has clearly seen something in training to offer them chances to stake a claim they're ready.
According to The Atheltic, the Chelsea have now also made contact with Ajax to register their interest in signing £52million-rated Mohamed Kudus. Arsenal are keeping tabs on his current situation, with a summer departure from the Dutch giants to secure a Premier League move looking likely.
All of those targets are under 23 and while Kudus in particular has played at the highest level for a number of years, Pochettino has seemingly hinted he would prefer the club to sign some players that are a bit older.
On keeping the younger players around, he said: "In my side, and for my side I think I would love to have these places for them to help them, if we see the potential to arrive as a senior player for Chelsea."
Pochettino is known for developing younger players, but there appears to be a lack of leaders and thus experienced heads in the dressing room which can harm the chances of those younger players improving their respective games with Cesar Azpilicueta, Mateo Kovacic and N'Golo Kante all departing this summer.
