Ben Chilwell hasn't yet been at Chelsea for three years but at 26 already finds himself as the third oldest player in Mauricio Pochettino's squad and, outside of players who came through the academy, the second longest serving player at the club behind Kepa Arrizabalaga.
His time in west London has been brief but eventful. The England international's tenure has seen Chelsea win the Champions League, UEFA Super Cup and Club World Cup but also go through head coaches quickly with Frank Lampard, Thomas Tuchel, Graham Potter and now Mauricio Pochettino all having landed in the Stamford Bridge hotseat.
The latter's arrival has coincided with a high-turnover summer for Chelsea. Following a disappointing 12th-placed finish in the Premier League last season, 13 players have departed and thesquad that travelled to the United States had an average age of 21, with 17 players 21 or younger making the trip.
Chilwell has offered a rare certainty of someone whose future has not been up for debate. The senior figure of Chelsea's squad extended his contract by a further two years to commit to the west London side until 2027. Perhaps a surprising move in many regards given Chelsea's struggles and a number of players with an eye on the exit door. Chilwell was firm in his reasoning.
