Manchester City have confirmed their summer transfer dealings and the overall cost of them as part of a huge financial report for the past year. The Cityzens released their annual report for the 2022/23 season that disclosed many interesting points in a clearly historic time for the club.
On the pitch, Pep Guardiola's team continue to dominate their opposition, winning a third consecutive Premier League title as well as the FA Cup. The one thing that was missing from their cabinet was the Champions League, something they had come close to but were denied by Chelsea.
This time around they wouldn't fall short as they narrowly overcame Inter Milan in the final, securing European silverware and a historic treble of trophies. That's not to suggest it has been a year free of complications though as they were pushed hard by their rivals on the pitch.
Meanwhile off of it, there continues to rumble some discussions surrounding their finances and alleged charges surrounding potential historic breaches. In February, the Premier League presented these alleged breaches in a statement, with those tallying up to 115 separate cases, spanning from 2009 until 2018 — when the initial investigation began.
The outcome of that case remains to be seen, with the sheer amount of time to investigate and the following charges likely to take any independent panel a while to come to a conclusion on.
