Man City 'remain confident on Matheus Nunes transfer' and other rumours

Manchester City are reportedly still confident about signing Matheus Nunes despite Wolverhampton Wanderers' commitment to keeping the full-back.

On Friday, the West Midlands club's manager Gary O'Neil confirmed they had rejected a bid from an unnamed club for Nunes. "He’s an important player for us and has four, potentially five, years left on his contract," the former Bournemouth man said.

"He’s suspended for the weekend, unfortunately, but we rejected a bid because we didn’t feel it met our valuation and we move on." The bid was thought to be in the region of £47m and came from City.

According to Sport Italia journalist Rudy Galetti, the Blues are unconcerned about their first bid being rejected. City are claimed to be reassured by the positive nature of the talks with Wolves and are gearing up to make a new offer in the region of £60m.

How Nunes and Eze offer different options to City

Nunes is also thought to be willing to make a move from Molineux. Elsewhere, City's attempts to sign Crystal Palace's Eberechi Eze could come to fruition in 2024.

According to The Sun, Roy Hodgson is hoping to tie Eze down to a new contract in the coming weeks to deter the likes of City and Barcelona from signing him. The 25-year-old would be in line for a massive pay rise which would take him to £5m-per-year.

But, the contract will also include a fixed release clause which gives City hope of signing him in the future, potentially as soon as 2024. At this stage it is unclear what the figure on the clause would be.

The Puma home shirt features the traditional sky blue colour but has slightly darker blue detailed stripes across the front which take inspiration from the Etihad Stadium's walkways. City moved to their new home from Maine
