Oasis icon Noel Gallagher has weighed in on the Premier League title race between his beloved Manchester City, Liverpool and Arsenal.
The Gunners are currently at the top of the table, edging out Liverpool on goal difference. City, who have dominated the league with five titles in the last six years, are hot on their heels just a point adrift in third place. City could leapfrog to the summit this Saturday if they manage to overcome Luton Town, who are battling relegation fears, at the Etihad Stadium.
All eyes will then turn to Sunday's high-stakes matches as Liverpool host Crystal Palace and Arsenal face a determined Aston Villa side with aspirations for Champions League football at the Emirates Stadium. In the run-up to a weekend that could significantly shape the title race, Gallagher shared his insights during a talkSPORT interview, the Liverpool Echo. reports
When quizzed about City's chances of replicating last season's treble, given they're still contenders in both the Champions League and FA Cup, Gallagher remarked: «No, no, no, we're conceding too many chances. I look at Arsenal and I think they're barely conceding a corner let alone goals, let alone dropping points. As you know yourself, the best defence ordinarily wins the league and they're just not giving anything up.
»Obviously I want City to win it. If I was a betting man, I've got a sneaky suspicion that the table is going to end the way it is now and I think Arsenal [will] nick it on goal difference. That's the way I see it because we're waiting now for the two of them to drop points and I look at Arsenal and every week you're thinking, 'well, this is the time when they implode'. I'm looking at it and thinking, 'they're just rock solid'."
