Manchester United have expressed an interest in signing a new centre-back, with the club eyeing up a move for two young prospects.
It comes amid uncertainty over Harry Maguire's future at the club and seems Erik ten Hag is open to signing new defensive players, after the club placed a price tag on the England centre-back before rejecting a £20million bid from West Ham for him.
The club have reignited their interest in Nice's much-improved defender Jean-Clair Todibo.
The French wonderkid had previously been on Erik Ten Hag's radar and has also had trials with Man United in the past.
But it seems the 23-year-old has come back into the reckoning at Old Trafford having featured heavily for the Ligue 1 outfit last season.
The centre-back rose through the academy system at Toulouse, before joining Barcelona in 2019.
He would then go out on loan to Schalke, Benfika and Nice, before moving permanently to the Ligue 1 outfit in 2021.
His contract at the French club expires in 2027, with Todibo widely regarded as one of European football's most promising talents, starting in 33 of the 34 league games he was available for last season.
He was notably sent off after just nine seconds during a game against Angers at the start of the season, in what was one of the fastest red cards ever seen after he brough down Abdallah Sima as he broke free on goal.
United are also interested in a more surprising move for Everton's left-back Jarrad Branthwaite, who has attracted multiple suitors this season for his impressive performances while on loan at PSV Eindhoven.
The 21-year-old was called up to the England U21s side for the first time during this Summer's European Championship.
