Manchester United were slammed for serving food that was 'unfit for human consumption' in a report outlining why the club's food hygiene rating slashed from five to one.
Mail Sport exclusively revealed last month that Man United's food hygiene rating was downgraded after guests were served raw chicken thighs at a corporate event.
A food hygiene report found 30 people were served the raw chicken at the North West Safety Health Environment Show, which was held at Old Trafford on November 21.
The report followed complaints from attendees at the event, which typically attracts between 200 and 250 delegates.
Eight people initially reported the raw thighs to staff but the complaint was found not to have been escalated appropriately.
It was founded that around 300 pieces of chicken had been cooked during the event.
Only three trays, each containing around 15 pieces were checked to ensure they had been cooked properly.
It meant 17 trays, carrying around 255 pieces of chicken, did not have the temperature recorded as required before being served to attendees.
'This puts persons eating the food at risk of consuming campylobacter and/or salmonella as the food has not under gone a thorough cooking process and therefore is unfit for human consumption,' the report read.
'You must ensure food is thoroughly cooked before it is served to customers.'
Management of food safety was criticised by inspectors, but cleanliness was deemed to be good.
The Food Standards Agency determined that the club requires a 'major improvement'. United are set to appeal the downgrade.
Man United had insisted the case was an 'isolated incident' and pledged to restore the five-star status.
