Man United suffer injury blow in Arsenal win as player leaves on crutches
Manchester United were left with a fresh injury problem after their pre-season win over Arsenal.
The Gunners were handed a setback in their latest friendly on their USA tour, with Man United getting the win at the MetLife Stadium through goals from Bruno Fernandes and Jadon Sancho. Mikel Arteta will hope the result gives his team a sharp shock as they enter the final few weeks before the start of the new season.
It proved to be a fairly intense affair for a friendly, with tensions rising high after a challenge from Lisandro Martinez on Bukayo Saka, resulting in both sides confronting each other as the defender was booked by the referee. The incident prompted an exchange between Martin Odegaard and the World Cup winner, while Man United boss Erik ten Hag attempted to confront officials before heading to the dressing room.
Harry Maguire was also cautioned by the referee, while Man United supporters took umbrage with a challenge from Jurrien Timber on young winger Amad Diallo. Moments later, though, Amad went down with no other player around him and was substituted, just a few minutes after coming on at half-time.

After the final whistle, footage emerged of Amad, 21, on crutches and being transported around the stadium. It could be a blow for the winger, who would have hoped to use pre-season to make a positive impression on Ten Hag, following his successful loan spell at Sunderland.
The Ivory Coast international scored 14 goals and provided three assists in 39 games as the Black Cats reached the play-offs. The extent of Diallo’s injury remains to be seen.
