Manchester United will reportedly turn their attention to Ajax forward Mohammed Kudus if they fail in their attempts to land Rasmus Hojlund from Atalanta.
As reported by Mail Sport on Monday, Danish striker Hojlund, who scored nine goals in Serie A last season, remains United’s No 1 target
The Red Devils have been in talks with Atalanta for weeks and it is understood that an opening bid is imminent but they will refuse to bid more than £60million.
According to the Mirror, Kudus is on the list of potential alternatives alongside Randal Kolo Muani of Eintracht Frankfurt.
Chelsea have already held talks over a move for the attacking midfielder, with Arsenal and Brighton having also shown an interest.
Kudus was snapped up by Ajax in 2020 for £8m after impressing during his time at former club FC Nordsjaelland.
The Ghana international would get off to a slow start to life in Amsterdam, struggling to assert his place in the team behind Anthony, who left for Manchester United in in 2022.
Kudus was second best in the pecking order, but upon the Brazilian's departure he's flourished at the Dutch club, scoring 11 times in 30 league appearances last season.
He was integral for Ajax during their Champions League run last year too, scoring in four of his six appearances in the competition, notably scoring against Liverpool at Anfield.
Kudus is able to playing in attacking midfield, on the flanks as well as up front and his versatility would be appealing to Erik ten Hag.
United have already strengthened their midfield with the signing of Mason Mount, who joined from Chelsea for £60m.
Goalkeeper Andre Onana has also joined the club last week following the departure of former No 1 David De Gea.
