Man Utd fans left 'speechless' over the pursuit of former Villa winger El Ghazi
Manchester United supporters have shown their dissent after the club were linked with a move for former Aston Villa winger and free agent Anwar El Ghazi.
Mail Sport revealed on Monday evening that United are considering making a move for El Ghazi as a stop-gap replacement for Brazilian star Antony who has mutually agreed to stay away from the club amid allegations of domestic abuse. He has denied any wrongdoing.
Furious fans have aired their frustrations on social media as United look to bring in the 28-year-old who left PSV Eindhoven by mutual consent last week and is available to join despite the transfer window closing.
Some labelled United's late transfer activity as 'desperate' given Erik ten Hag has readymade replacements in Jadon Sancho and the unproven Facundo Pellistri available.
El Ghazi last featured in the Premier League for Aston Villa and could be handed a return to the English top-flight by United, although he also has offers from Saudi Arabia.
One supporter vented their annoyance with United's planned move, stating: 'United are so desperate, they’re going for an Egyptian winger hoping maybe he comes out half as good as Mo Salah.'
Another blamed United's director of football, John Murtough for the move, adding: 'Another Murtough madness! Some director of football. Taking us in the direction of wall to wall Eredivisie garbage!'
