Manchester City make club history with FA Cup semi-final victory over Chelsea

Manchester City have made history with their FA Cup semi-final victory over Chelsea.

Bernardo Silva's 84th-minute strike gave the Citizens the victory in what was a controversial afternoon at Wembley.

Chelsea fans were furious as the ball appeared to strike Jack Grealish's arm from a Cole Palmer free-kick, but after a VAR check no penalty was given. And to make it worse, a goal kick was awarded to City.

Nicolas Jackson had several chances to score for the Blues but was unable to take any as Mauricio Pochettino's side fell to defeat.

The win for City has seen them complete a nice bit of club history, showing just how good Pep Guadiola's side are.

According to OptaJoe, City are  unbeaten in their last 29 matches in all competitions, the longest ever such run in the club's history.

During this time they have won 23 matches and drawn six.

However, there is some controversy over the statistic as the Citizens were knocked out of the Champions League by Real Madrid.

Fans took to social media to question the record as one said: 'So who won the Champions League quarter-final?'

'They still in the Champions League then?' another asked.

A final supporter joked: Who are they playing in semi final then?'

A 3-3 draw at the Bernabeu saw Guardiola's side take control in the second leg at the Etihad before they went behind.

They managed to pull it back to 1-1 before falling to defeat in the penalty shoot-out, with the match classed as a draw by FIFA despite the loss on penalties.

'They literally lost the last game on penalties,' another football fan pointed out on X.

Interestingly,  the 1-1 draw against Real Madrid is registered as a loss on the Man City website, with their last defeat coming back in December.
