Cole Palmer has summed up the feelings of Chelsea's players and supporters with a one-word message on social media after the FA Cup semi-final defeat against Manchester City at Wembley Stadium.
Chelsea went into the game looking to make the final of the competition for the fourth time in five years. But they came up against holders City, who were not going to give up their crown easily.
Pep Guardiola’s side had been in midweek action, having fallen to a penalty shootout defeat to Real Madrid just three days earlier. It would be something that the Blues would look to take advantage of.
As expected, City had the majority of possession, but it was Chelsea who arguably had more of the better chances during the game through Nicolas Jackson and Cole Palmer. There were chances they’d come to rue as Bernardo Silva scored the decisive goal for City with just six minutes left to play.
It was perhaps no surprise that Cole Palmer was againone of the key players for Chelsea, as he came up against his former club. After the game, he posted a picture of himself laying on the Wembley turf at full time on his Instagram stories and added a caption that reads ‘sighhh’.
The FA Cup was Chelsea’s final hope for silverware this season. But concentration for Mauricio Pochettino’s team will now be on finishing the season as high as possible, with finishing in the European places still a possibility.
