Despite the vastly different positions the two clubs are in and the varying levels of success they've enjoyed in recent years, Manchester United and Manchester City have somehow got the same problem going into the final days of the transfer window.
Both Manchester clubs are in the market for a new defensive midfielder and they have just two days left to find one. Although they're swimming in the same pond, City are leisurely floating on a lilo with a pina colada in a coconut while United are thrashing to keep afloat.
The Blues are still looking to add to their midfield options after losing Ilkay Gundogan at the start of the summer. Mateo Kovacic was immediately recruited to replenish the ranks but the club was always keen on bringing in another. There was a failed attempt to sign Declan Rice and interest cooled on Lucas Paqueta when the FA opened an investigation against him for potential betting rules breaches.
Now Crystal Palace playmaker Eberechi Eze and Wolves defensive-midfielder Matheus Nunes have been honed in on as targets. The injury to Kevin De Bruyne has stepped up the urgency for a signing in the area, but it wouldn't be a disaster for City if they failed to bring in a new body.
United could see another surprise player emerge
The signing of Jeremy Doku last week means their attacking options have been bolstered following the departure of Riyad Mahrez and, as a result, the likes of Bernardo Silva and Phil Foden can be more available for a central position rather than having to play on the flanks. City have plenty of midfield options, especially in defensive midfield where Rodri is undroppable and they also have Kovacic, Kalvin Phillips, Rico Lewis and John Stones who can operate there.
