Manchester United boss Marc Skinner feels 'responsibility' of bringing WSL success after world-class additions
Manchester United’s Women’s Super League campaign kicks off on Sunday, October 1 in an away clash against formidable opponents, Aston Villa. Last season United got the better of Carla Ward’s side in a 5-0 thrashing at the Theatre of Dreams and again at the Bescot Stadium where Millie Turner netted in extra time to bring home the 3-2 victory.
However, both sides have injected an abundance of talent in their rosters making this league clash not one to be missed. Former Barcelona striker Geyse, World Cup Golden Boot winner Hinata Miyazawa and Gabby George are among the 10 joining United’s ranks.
The club parted ways with 23 players in the summer transfer window, two of whom make the jump from United to Sunday’s rivals Villa: Kirsty Hansen and Adrianna Leon.

Manager Marc Skinner said: “I feel the responsibility to put world-class players in front of our fans because they travel and support us like nobody else in this country.
“It was really important we added players who can make individual decisions. From my perspective, we have those players but we needed more. We’re replacing Alessia Russo and Ona Batlle of course, so we needed that level of player and I'm really happy with the quality we’ve got.
“I look at the forward line, for example, the supply to the forward line now has high-level experience. It's not that the players we had last year were not good enough, not at all. It’s just that these are big players who, in that moment, are used to it.
