Erik ten Hag has had a lot of fires to fight since arriving at Manchester United.

And this week another off-field issue materialised with Ten Hag and Jadon Sancho in a high-profile war of words. The United chief said the England international was omitted from the squad for the Premier League defeat to Arsenal due to his standards slipping in training, something the 23-year-old rejected when penning a response on social media.
It's not the first time Sancho has been in the headlines amid concerns over his attitude and timekeeping. While coming through the ranks at Manchester City in 2017 he reportedly refused to train with the club as he sought a move away having been late for training sessions during that summer while staying behind in England as the club went on a pre-season tour.

He then joined German side Borussia Dortmund and broke through on the European and international stage. But his development in the Bundesliga was not straightforward.
In October 2019, Sancho was left out of the squad for a game with Borussia Monchengladbach having returned late to the club following international duty with England.
Then manager Lucien Favre said at the time: "It was a disciplinary measure. Tomorrow is a new day. That's all. It stays internal."
