Manchester United are reportedly eyeing a move for young Benfica midfielder Joao Neves next summer.
The 19-year-old is becoming a familiar name in the Portuguese giants' squad and has already made 11 appearances so far this season. His key performances for his club have started to catch the eye of European football fans but according to journalist Florian Plettenberg, United have been aware of his talents for some time.
It is claimed the Reds have been biding their time on Neves after he became a first team regular in the latter stages of last season and will be willing to make an offer for the teenager next summer. However, there are a couple of hurdles standing in United's way.

Firstly, there are unnamed European clubs who are willing to provide competition to United to sign Neves and secondly, Benfica are currently protected from losing their prospect thanks to a £103m release clause, it is understood. Such is the Portuguese midfielder's talents though, he has been touted as a future replacement for Casemiro at Old Trafford.
Elsewhere, TeamTalk understands Newcastle United are surveying their options in fear of losing Sandro Tonali. The Magpies are concerned the Italian could face a lengthy ban due to betting on AC Milan when he played for them.
With this in mind, Eddie Howe is looking to strengthen his midfield in January. One of the names on Newcastle's shortlist is Scott McTominay.
The Scotland international has found chances hard to come by under Erik ten Hag but was the hero prior to the break scoring twice off the bench to beat Brentford at Old Trafford.
