Paris Saint-Germain’s Spanish forward Marco Asensio (28) has gone into partnership with former Real Madrid teammate Thibaut Courtois (31) and for a new business venture, reports L’Équipe.
Along with NBA basketball stars Larry Nance Jr. and Joe Harris, the ex-colleagues will join forces with two sporting directors, Sergio Friede and Pierre Jouannin, to create marketing agency Group 1, with the aim of increasing an athlete’s visibility in as yet unexplored markets.
In practice, this would mean for example opening the European market to American sports people and vice versa, but also extoling the virtues of smaller markets such as the Middle East, Asia and Latin America.
Asensio sees endless possibilities:
“During my travels to the United States in the last few years, I witnessed first hand the increasing interest and passion for football at all levels. As a host nation for international tournaments, including World Cup 2026, there are opportunities to showcase the USA to players and teams from around the world”.
