Marcus Rashford is setting his sights on becoming the record goalscorer at Manchester United.
Wayne Rooney currently holds the prestigious title but the Red Devils legend is actually backing the 25-year-old to exceed his tally.
Rashford is set to return to Premier League action very soon off the back of a stellar season at Old Trafford.
He scored 30 goals across all competitions last term, with 17 of those coming in the English top flight.
Such a tally has seen him surpass Andy Cole and take him to 11th in United's all-time record scoring list with 123 goals.
Rooney sits at the top with 253 and even though he may be a long way behind, Rashford wants take the crown for himself.
“Hopefully I will [break Rooney’s all-time United goal record]," he told Gary Neville on The Overlap in partnership with Sky Bet.
«You never know what’s going to happen, but I’m all about scoring goals and trying to make assists. There’s a chance that it can happen.
»I’ve spoken to Wazza about it – he wants me to do it! He said it would be good for me to do it as I’ve grown up at the club. Hopefully I get the opportunity to try and make it happen.”
United were highly impressive in their first season under Erik ten Hag, who helped deliver their first trophy since 2017 with the Carabao Cup.
Rivals Manchester City won their third consecutive Premier League trophy last term, and the title is one of Rashford's aspirations.
