Olympique de Marseille continue their search for a left-back, and amidst difficulties in their bid to sign Stade Rennais’ Adrien Truffert, they may turn to a familiar face in the form of Nuno Tavares (23), according to L’Équipe.
Tavares spent last season on loan at Marseille and had a mixed spell. He featured 39 times for Les Phocéens, scoring six goals, however, he fell out of favour under Igor Tudor and was reportedly left out for his attitude in training. However, he may now return to the Vélodrome.
Marseille have already completed the signing of Ulisses Garcia, but following the departure of Renan Lodi to Al Hilal, a first-choice option is sought after. Truffert is an option, but Rennes are determined to retain their France international, whilst France U21 international Quentin Merlin, is also a target, according to Foot Mercato.
Tavares, who is currently on loan at Nottingham Forest, is perhaps an easier option. The Portuguese has been used sparingly this season, featuring just three times in the Premier League. Tavares, whose contract with Arsenal expires at the end of the season, is open to a return to Ligue 1.
