Contrary to a report from The Sun, Olympique de Marseille are not considering a move for out-of-favour Manchester United forward Anthony Martial (28).
The British publication had linked Martial, whose contract at Manchester United expires at the end of the current season, with a move to Marseille. In December, La Provence reported that OM were “frustrated” by links to the former AS Monaco winger, as well as West Ham United’s Saïd Benrahma.
This remains the case, as confirmed by Foot Mercato, with a move for Martial completely unfeasible on a financial level. Les Phocéens’ wage bill is being closely monitored by the DNCG – French football’s financial watchdog and the club are therefore mindful of signing players on high wages.
Fabrizio Romano adds that there is no update on Martial’s situation. The Frenchman is out of contract at the end of the season, and there is currently no talk of an extension. Martial’s future seemingly does not lie at Old Trafford and his next destination remains a mystery.
