Materazzi: Lukaku betrayed Inter Milan twice - but fans won't abuse him
Inter Milan hero Marco Materazzi wants to know why Romelu Lukaku was so determined not to return to the club this season.
Now on-loan with Roma, the Chelsea-owned striker held talks with Juventus while still an Inter player towards the end of last season - a decision which saw the Nerazzurri end any prospect of him re-signing.
Materazzi said: "It was a shame for everyone, then the results will tell who was right. When he returned he was praised, I would like to know what his motivations were. He certainly had them, everyone knows what is best for themselves.
"Everyone goes for his way, he's scoring, I hope he doesn't do it against Inter and then we'll see who was right."
Asked how will he be welcomed at Inter for the October 29 clash at San Siro, Materazzi continued: "He knows it, I think badly. It's normal that he betrayed once, was forgiven and betrayed a second time.
"If we don't go further, I think the sporting fact is all there. The Inter support is quite mature to know that there shouldn't be things that go beyond teasing."
