According to Fabrice Hawkins , Antoine Griezmann (32) will be replaced with Matteo Guendouzi (24) in France’s upcoming friendlies against Germany and Chile, after the veteran striker reported for training international duty suffering from an ankle injury.
Griezmann was unable to start for Atlético de Madrid in their 3-0 loss to Barcelona over the weekend and was only able to come on as a substitute. His absence from the national set-up will mean an end to a remarkable run of 84 consecutive games for his nation, as the Atlético de Madrid striker will be sent home to recover from his struggles.
However, while one door closes another opens, and in his place Guendouzi will receive his first international call-up since the 2022 World Cup. The midfielder has had an impressive season on loan at Lazio from Olympique de Marseille, and his reward will be a surprise inclusion in Didier Deschamps set-up.
