Chelsea continue to be heavily linked with a move for Moises Caicedo as Mauricio Pochettino hopes to further bolster his midfield options
Mauricio Pochettino has insisted that Chelsea 'need at least one more' midfielder before the transfer window slams shut. Following the departures of N'Golo Kante, Mason Mount and Mateo Kovacic, the Blues find themselves short on options in the middle of the park.
Chelsea have been heavily linked with numerous players who could fill that void, but the club are yet to get their hands on anyone. One name which seems to be at the top of Pochettino's shortlist is Moises Caicedo; the 21-year-old faces a somewhat uncertain future at Brighton as the west Londoners push to secure his signature.
He replied: "It depends on the situation of different players. We need at least one more and we are working on that. It depends on what happens in the next few weeks. We will decide and take our decision"
Then, when asked to confirm his transfer plan, Pochettino added: "That is the idea. We are working, the club is working on that. We need to add some player there. We need one more with experience."
Despite having not signed a new midfielder this summer, Pochettino has relished the chance to give some younger players a chance to impress. Cesare Casadei and Andrey Santos are among those who have benefitted the most from Chelsea's inability to wrap up a deal for Caicedo.
"It’s a good opportunity for the young guys to have the chance to play," said the Blues' boss. "There are still three games to play here and it’s good, not a problem.
