Mauricio Pochettino sent worrying Chelsea sack message as Emmanuel Petit rips into Alan Shearer

Former Chelsea and Arsenal star Emmanuel Petit does not believe Mauricio Pochettino will get the time he needs to turn Chelsea’s Premier League fortunes around. After suffering their fourth defeat of the season, against Brentford last Saturday, Chelsea currently sit in the bottom half of the table.

It has been a difficult start for the former Tottenham manager, who has overseen a massive squad overhaul and has battled injuries since the start of the season. Petit, who played for Chelsea between 2001 and 2004, has sympathised with the Chelsea boss.

Speaking to OLBG he said: “There are so many things to improve, and there has been a curse on the number 9 shirt ever since Drogba left. It'll take time, but we all know that Chelsea don't get time and neither will Pochettino.

“There's no Champions League for Chelsea this season, and it'll be very disappointing if they don't finish high up in the league.”

Pochettino brought in his own coaching staff, as well as welcomed 11 new faces in the summer, which has meant a settling-in process occured in west London. Along with defending the Chelsea manager, Petit believes it is difficult to put too much blame on the players, calling out Alan Shearer for his comments on Match of the Day.

The Frenchman said: “Former players need to be really careful when they point fingers at individual players, especially when the player is part of a struggling side. I can see where Shearer is coming from (MOTD analysis), but I won't point fingers at Chelsea players.
