The 22-year-old has been strongly linked with a transfer to the North London club, with newly-appointed manager Ange Postecoglou keen to bolster his defensive options ahead of the new campaign.
Liverpool are also understood to be keeping tabs on Van de Ven, but it is thought that Spurs are currently leading the race for his signature.
A recent report claims that Tottenham are yet to make a formal bid for the £30m-rated centre-back, although the Dutchman is understood to have agreed personal terms with the Premier League club.
Van de Ven still has four years remaining on his Wolfsburg contract, but the defender recently refused to rule out a move to the Premier League.
«I'm very good [happy] at Wolfsburg, so I don't mind staying at Wolfsburg for another year, but if I get a chance to leave I would like to,» Van de Ven told Voetbal International.
«I read everything… I have good contact with my agent, so I know what's going on. I'll see where it will lead.
»Hopefully, [moving to a bigger club] would be nice. The Premier League, maybe, yes. Who knows?"
Van de Ven's agent Jose Fortes Rodriguez has since admitted that a move to Tottenham this summer would suit all parties.
Speaking to Westdeutsche Allgemeine Zeitung, as quoted by the Evening Standard, Rodriguez said: «We have to talk to [Wolfsburg] first. I think Tottenham would be a good move for Micky. But there is no agreement.»
Asked if a decision over Van de Ven's future could be made soon, Rodriguez added: «Hard to say. We have to talk to [Wolfsburg]».
