Tottenham transfer news: Wolfsburg and Tottenham are close to finalising the transfer of Micky van de Ven
Tottenham are close to reaching an agreement with Wolfsburg for the transfer of defender Micky van de Ven, according to reports. Spurs have been in talks with the German outfit for a number of weeks and now look to finally be nearing their sixth permanent summer signing.
Dejan Kulusevski and Pedro Porro have seen their respective loan moves officially made permanent while Guglielmo Vicario, James Maddison and Manor Solomon have all been welcomed to the club with signing a new defender then becoming the priority.
Like van de Ven, Bayer Leverkusen star Edmond Tapsoba is also wanted by Spurs and talks have been held, but the Netherlands international was seen as the cheaper option and Spurs now look to have made a significant breakthrough in talks. According to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, Tottenham are close to reaching an agreement with Wolfsburg for van de Ven with deal advancing to the final stages.
Personal terms have already been agreed which just leaves the last few formalities, barring any late hitches, to sort before van de Ven officially joins Spurs. Ange Postecoglou had already made it clear how important signing a new defender would be and the pre-season goals conceded have also highlighted that.
When football.london asked Postecoglou in July whether he wanted new centre-back options to arrive before the start of the Premier League season, he admitted that it was a process that had been a while in the making.
