Tottenham plot £50m Arsenal transfer raid to sign Harry Kane replacement amid three-man shortlist
Harry Kane's blockbuster move to Bayern Munich this weekend has left Tottenham without a natural centre-forward for the first time since 2014.
The north Londoners now face an extremely busy period off-the-pitch in the transfer market. Replacing Kane before September 1 will be at the top of their to-do-list after Richarlison, Dejan Kulusevski and Son Heung-min failed to deliver in their Premier League opener against Brentford.
A number of European strikers have been linked to Spurs since Kane's £100million switch to Germany. Gent forward Gift Orban is said to have been on their radar since earlier in the window, with Juventus' Dusan Vlahovic, Lille forward Jonathan David and Aleksander Mitrovic linked.
However, Arsenal could have a vital say on their north London rivals' transfer plan following reports that Folarin Balogun is on their radar. The USMNT star seems all but certain to leave the Gunners this summer having been left out of Mikel Arteta's squad in the last two games.
Balogun has caught the eye of a list of clubs around Europe after scoring 21 Ligue 1 goals for Stade Reims last season. Inter Milan and AS Monaco have already been unsuccessful with offers, with Arsenal's £50million valuation proving a difficult fee to meet.
According to La Gazzetta Dello Sport, Balogun has emerged as an option to replace Kane at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. As well as mentions to Vlahovic, Orban and Mehdu Taremi, it's suggested that Balogun is keen for a chance in the Premier League having only made two appearances prior.
