Chelsea look to have been dealt a major blow to their hopes of signing Dusan Vlahovic. The 23-year-old striker has been linked with a move to Stamford Bridge this summer as Mauricio Pochettino hopes to further bolster his frontline despite having already signed Nicolas Jackson.
Vlahovic, who sees his contract at the Allianz Stadium expire in 2026, featured 27 times for the Old Lady in Serie A last season, finding the net just 10 times. Despite his misfortune in front of goal, the Serbia international emerged as a potential target for the Blues.
And, now, with the Blues boss pushing to sign a forward before the the transfer window slams shut, Vlahovic has been mooted as an option by Chelsea supporters on social media. Speaking to talkSPORT following the west Londoners' defeat to West Ham, Pochettino said: «It is a difficult situation because we had two strikers in [Christopher] Nkunku and [Armando] Broja but they are injured.
»It is not easy in this moment to find the right profile. We are in the process, working to see if we can add some players in this area. But it is a job that is not easy for the club. For sure, they are working really hard to add some players.
«If it is not possible, we need to wait until Nkunku and Broja will be ready and we have the help of Mason [Burstow]. I don’t think the problem is that we need another striker. The chances that we created, we need to be more clinical.»
While Vlahovic may be a popular option among sections of the Chelsea fanbase, his heart seems set on staying at Juventus. After scoring for the Old Lady on the opening weekend of the new Serie A campaign, the Serbian penned a classy message on Instagram.
«Per VOI», he wrote, which translates to 'for you' in English. Under the image
