Speaking to the press ahead of the match against Manchester City in the Community Shield, Mikel Arteta was asked about the state of his squad. The size remains bloated and even with the exit of Auston Trusty there remains trimming to do.
The reshuffle also needs to take into account the potential for incomings too. However, the club are closing on their fourth summer signing with the potential for more as Edu Gaspar works to complete the summer business.
“There’s still time. We are very happy with the squad, that’s for sure.”
“But as well we have to make sure that we can have and share the minutes in the right way for the team to have a healthy competition in the squad. We are working on that.”

Mohammed Kudus is the other name that has been most prevalently talked about. With Gabriel Jesus injured, adding another forward to provide competition at both right-wing and centre-forward would surely be of significant benefit to the club.

Alex Runarsson remains at the club but football.london understands the club are open to offers for the Iceland international. He spent time at Alanyaspor last season but so far no concrete offers have arrived.

Nuno Tavares has returned to the club and the club are open to an exit. After his spell in Marseille which did not go particularly well, there has been little in the way of serious interest
