Nashville SC star reportedly on Qatari league's radar early in MLS transfer window
But will the club captain actually leave?
One of Major League Soccer's biggest stars is reportedly the target of interest from the Qatar Stars League.
Nashville's Hany Mukhtar, who has 13 goals in 22 games this season, has been offered the chance to head to the Middle East this summer in a potentially-pricey transfer. Mukhtar, the club's captain, has been one of the league's most lethal players since his arrival in the United States — and other clubs around the world are taking notice.
Mukhtar, Major League Soccer's reigning Golden Boot winner, bounced around several countries before finding a home in Tennessee with the expansion Nashville SC.
Mukhtar, who played for Germany's youth teams, had a breakthrough 2021 campaign, scoring 16 goals to help second-year Nashville to a third-place finish in the Eastern Conference. The attacker followed up that campaign with 23 goals last season, and he's already scored 13 goals with seven assists in 2023.
Despite the «lucrative» offers reportedly lodged to player and club, it does not sound much like Mukhtar will be leaving Nashville any time soon.
At 28 years old, Mukhtar could easily cash in on his MLS stardom and rake in the millions in Qatar. But the Berlin native reportedly has little interest in leaving Nashville as the team tries to mount a serious challenge for the MLS Cup.
Nashville sits second in the East after 22 games, seven points behind FC Cincinnati for Major League Soccer's best record.
