Former Chelsea boss Graham Potter is favourite to succeed Gareth Southgate as England manager.
The Three Lions boss is preparing to face Italy at Wembley tonight in a clash that could seal the country’s place at Euro 2024 with two games to spare. England will hope to go one step further than the previous European championship, where Southgate’s side lost the final to Italy on penalties, and finally lift another major trophy next summer.
Southgate has been in charge of England since 2016 and reportedly considered stepping down after the team’s World Cup quarter-final exit, last year. His contract runs until December 2024 and the England boss is relaxed about the situation, as he explained in May, “I think we’ll have to go very, very well [at the Euros] for the next World Cup to be a possibility in anyone’s eyes. That’s fair enough. I’m more than comfortable with that.”
With that in mind, here's a look at the current frontrunners to be named the next England manager.
