Norman Whiteside
The wife of ex-Manchester United star Norman Whiteside has criticised the club for ‘dumping’ the couple from their seats at Old Trafford.
Denise Whiteside hit out after they were relocated from their usual spot at the stadium.
She said it was dreadful timing given the club’s on-pitch struggles this season.
Taking to X, formerly known as Twitter, she said: "So, it doesn’t matter how long you’ve been a loyal supporter, doesn’t matter if you played for your club, @ManUtd can just dump you from your seat when they feel like it, so they can expand exec seating! Absolute disgrace!”
According to Denise, more commonly known as Dee, many of the ‘United family’ who have sat in the same stadium area for 20-30 years, “are all really angry about this enforced seat relocation”.
She stressed that it has come at a time “when the football has been less than spectacular and the season ticket price is increasing”.
Manchester United said it was “committed to working with all season ticket-holders affected by relocations”.
Her husband Norman played for the Red Devils throughout the 80s and scored 68 goals for the club, and is also a former star of the Northern Ireland international team.
The 58-year-old Shankill Road native made history when he became the youngest player to appear in a World Cup tournament match.
Thousands have taken to social media to show support for the Whitesides and to voice similar outrage about the alleged reseating incident.
One user commented: Shocking… I hope you was [sic] informed of this and Norman has gone in to see them regarding it ..! Ex Players that have done what he did in the game for the club should be recognised not booted into touch… Shame on you Manchester United.”
