OFFICIAL: Barcelona Court has released Dani Alves on bail of €1m pending his final sentence. He had previously served one year and two months in prison.
Dani Alves has paid a €1 million bail and will be temporarily released, but his passport is confiscated, and he must appear in court weekly until his final sentence.
Yesterday the court held a hearing on whether it was a temporary incident, and Alves attended by video, during which he said: I will not run away, I believe in justice, and I will always be at the mercy of justice.
On February 22, local time, the Barcelona court convicted Alves of rape and sentenced him to 4 years and 6 months in prison. After the verdict was announced, both sides appealed, with prosecutors arguing that the sentence was too lenient and defense lawyers calling for acquittal. The case has entered the second instance stage.
