The France World Cup winner will join the MLS side on July 18 on an 18-month contract
Olivier Giroud is targeting MLS in the latter stages of his career, and according to reports, he has already reached a verbal agreement to play for Los Angeles FC.
This will reportedly happen on July 18 when his commitment toAC Milan ends and after he plays for France at Euro 2024.
Giroud, 37, a World Cup winner with France in 2018 and runner-up in 2022, is also the top scorer in the history of his national team. It comes as LAFC look to compete withInter Miami's stars led by Lionel Messi, and will give them a new option in attack following the departure of Carlos Vela.
«LAFC have reached verbal agreement to sign Olivier Giroud on a contract valid until December 2025!,» Fabrizio Romano posted on X.
«After interest revealed in October and formal bid earlier this week, there's an initial agreement in place. Nothing signed yet but close to being done.Here we go, soon.»
Giroud's imminent signing with LAFC was also corroborated by The Athletic, which reported that sources close to the club confirmed that a deal is «being finalized» for the Frenchman to join in the summer when the MLS transfer window opens on July 18, with a guaranteed deal through the 2025 season.
For the time being, Giroud will finish his time with AC Milan where he has contributed 12 goals and eight assists this season, in addition to participating with France in Euro 2024 from June 14 to July 14.
However, his arrival could take a little longer if he is one of Thierry Henry's reinforcements for the Paris 2024 Olympics.
