Andre Onana's Manchester United place could be in danger with Erik Ten Hag looking to bring in a new goalkeeper this month, according to a report.
The Cameroon international has had a difficult start to life at Old Trafford, making a number of errors since replacing David De Gea following his £47.1million move from Inter Milan in the summer.
He is currently playing at the African Cup of Nations, having missed his side's opening game after staying back to play for United in their FA Cup tie at Wigan and Premier League match against Manchester United.
And the 27-year-old's spot at United's No 1 could now be under threat, with the club said to be looking at bringing in a new goalkeeper while Onana is away with his national team.
According to Quotidiano Sport, Ten Hag is interested in signing Lazio man Ivan Provedel before the month is out.
Provedel is said to be looking for an improved contract at Lazio, with the 29-year-old unhappy with his current terms a the Italian side.
He has started every Serie A game for Maurizio Sarri's side this season, with the club currently in sixth place in the league table, just one point off the Champions League places.
In total, he has made 72 appearances for the club since joining last summer from Spezia, having so far spent his entire career in his native Italy.
United aren't thought to fully trust back-up goalkeeper Altay Bayindir, who is set to at least in the immediate future deputise for Onana during AFCON. Should Cameroon win the tournament, it's possible Onana could miss up to five club matches.
Ten Hag therefore could dip into the market in a bid to improve his goalkeeping department as the club try and keep tabs with the Champions League places.
