Those living on a normally quiet Merseyside street have become accustomed to helicopters and photographers descending every April.
Barlow’s Lane in Fazakerley, located off Longmoor Lane, is a long road where the tidy detached and semi-detached homes seem to go on forever. As you look on the left hand side, large fences are visible in the gaps between the houses.
At the end of the street, there is a pedestrianised woodland area. It’s here you can get the best view of Aintree Racecourse.

Those lucky enough to live on the left hand side of the street meanwhile can get a pretty decent view of the Grand National themselves from their back gardens. Resident Lorna Beedlsey has a routine for the event every year.
She told the ECHO: “It’s great [living here]. I love it. We have friends around every year and have a little garden party. It’s a great atmosphere as well in the morning when the helicopters are landing.”
Lorna was completely unaware of this when she first saw the house around four years ago. She said: “When I viewed the house, it was in the dark, so I didn't actually know what it looked like. And then when I went the next day to view it in daylight, I was like, oh yeah, definitely, I'll take it. It worked out really well.
“It's just a great place to live and the atmosphere is great. Starting from the Thursday, clearly you can hear all the excitement building for the next few days. It's great. I’m really enjoying being there at the minute.”
