Paul Merson and Chris Sutton have lodged their score predictions for Chelsea's clash against Fulham this weekend. The Blues will welcome their west London rivals to Stamford Bridge on Saturday afternoon as either side hopes to climb the Premier League table.
Chelsea head into the tie following a disappointing loss to Middlesbrough at the Riverside Stadium in the Carabao Cup semi-final first-leg. Fulham also suffered a League Cup defeat during the week, surrendering a 1-0 lead against Liverpool at Anfield.
Both sides will be determined to return to winning ways this weekend and, while Marco Silva's side have only won only one out of 10 games on the road this season, they are just a stones throw from Stamford Bridge. With that being said, Merson has predicted a 'fiercely contested' clash in west London.
«This is a big London derby and the two sides are right next to each other on the table, so I expect a fiercely contested game at Stamford Bridge,» said the former Arsenal midfielder in a column for SportsKeeda. «On their day, Fulham are a really good side and I like them, but you saw what happened against Liverpool yesterday.
»They played really well to take the lead and had one or two glorious chances to add to their advantage, but when it really mattered, they lacked the killer instinct to put the game to bed and the Reds staged a second-half comeback to win 2-1.
«If Chelsea win by two clear goals, they could go up to seventh on the table. I can't see them winning so comfortably, but something tells me the Blues will show up and secure all three points. Willian has been fantastic for Fulham this season.
