Rio Ferdinand called upon Man United's Marcus Rashford to show a 'response' following his recent disciplinary issue - just moments before the striker got the opening goal against Wolves.
The Manchester United striker has been in trouble since he missed training shortly after drinking in a nightclub in Belfast, in an incident caught and subsequently shared on social media.
Ahead of Thursday night's game against Wolves, Ferdinand revealed that plenty of people make mistakes, and it is up to Rashford to prove himself, during the Premier League game and the weeks that follow.
Rashford did not wait to make an impact at Molineux, curling in a goal inside five minutes of the start of the Premier League game at Wolves.
Speaking before the game, Ferdinand told TNT Sports: 'I think we don't know exactly what happened. The club have looked in it looks like a disciplinary action has been taken, so he's obviously stepped out of line somewhere.
'But to me, it looks like he's missed training. And listen, if we're all being honest, we've done things where we stepped out a lot of times in our career. And fortunately for me, I was protected by a club that was in a good position, it was doing well it was confident. All eyes weren't on us for the wrong reasons.
'And sometimes you have to be aware of where your club are, and what your position is and what your role is within that. And you have to take the right steps.
'People are allowed to make mistakes. But in this situation, and again, you're not looking at someone like Marcus Rashford as being a young kid. He's one of the most experienced players here. He is Mr. Manchester United right now.
'He's propelled himself into that position for his performance prior to this, and you have to then act
