Sir Jim Ratcliffe reportedly wants new CEO Omar Berrada to introduce a Manchester City-style wage structure to Manchester United this summer.
The INEOS founder completed his minority acquisition of the Reds this week when the FA finally ratified the deal. Despite his official arrival coming just a few days ago, Ratcliffe's presence has been felt since the festive announcement from the club.
In January, the 71-year-old's first major appointment was made as the Reds managed to lure Berrada from across Manchester to join the project from next season. Now, according to the Daily Mirror, the 45-year-old's first task has been handed to him.

Ratcliffe is believed to want to introduce an incentivised wage structure at Old Trafford to help build the squad. United's last wage bill was reported as being £330m and City's checked in at more than £400m.
However, the Blues' wage payouts grew thanks to earning £300m in prize money thanks to their success in the Champions League, Premier League and FA Cup. In an attempt to lower United's overall wage bill, Ratcliffe wants to alter contracts so that they become more weighted towards success on the pitch rather than set sums at the beginning of the season.
The goal is believed to be keeping players' wages under the £300,000 per week threshold but there is an acceptance that for certain calibres of players these rules may need to be flexible. Of course, this is also seen as a long-term challenge for Berrada as United are legally obliged to continue with the current terms of players' contracts.
