Crazy non-league match abandoned in 98th minute after home team gets six red cards

A non-league match had to be abandoned deep into injury time on Saturday after one team collected a staggering six red cards.

During their game against Tunbridge Wells on Saturday, four Snodland Town players were sent off and another was sin-binned. Both teams are based in the Premier Division of the Southern Counties East Football League, where onlookers saw a very unusual match.

In the end, Snodland, who are currently ninth in the table and chasing promotion, were forced to concede. After being left with just six players on the pitch, two of their coaching staff also saw red, meaning they had more people watching from the stands than playing on the field, reports the Daily Star.

Snodland seemed just as confused as anyone else about why they'd been cut down so drastically. The score was 0-0 at Potyns Sports Ground when everything kicked off. On their X (formerly Twitter) account, the club started to talk about Saturday's madness by saying: «What is happening out there. Two more red cards for us!! And then the game gets abandoned by the ref for reasons still to be determined.»

Then they added: «Thank you to the 194 who came along today. We will let you know any outcome.»

The social media officer for Tunbridge Wells Supporters said the match was stopped «over the officials' safety». But teams can't play with less than seven players. Snodland had four players sent off and one in the sin bin, so they couldn't keep playing.
