The Premier League have once again shown no consideration for supporters after they announced Chelsea's rearranged match against Aston Villa will be played on Saturday, April 27, at 8pm. But that's hardly surprising, is it?
Football supporters have once again been put at the back of the Premier League's minds just so they can make their money from a broadcasting perspective. The last train from Aston, the train station located not too far away from Villa Park, to London on that night is 21:42. The game will still be going on by then.
So those die-hard Chelsea supporters wanting to watch their team at Villa Park will either be forced to drive to the match, buy a room in a hotel where prices will be inflated because of the demand, or find an alternative route back to the capital. Once again, the Premier League has failed in its duty to give fans the best possible experience.
They often talk about supporters being the most important part of the sport we all love, but this is not even the first time this season, is it? Christmas Eve. Away in Wolverhampton. An absolute joke.
A 17:30 kick-off on a Sunday away in Sheffield. Still to come. An absolute joke. It is hardly treating the supporters with much respect, is it?
And there will be those who say, 'don't go, then', but that is not the point. Football supporters, whoever they may follow, should not have to make that decision. They should be able to go and watch their football team play a match and finding a route home should not be the barrier which prevents them from attending.
