Former Chelsea midfielder Emmanuel Petit says owner Todd Boehly is «running the club into the ground» amid suggestions that Conor Gallagher could be sold this summer. The England international is one of a few academy graduates in the current first team, but could be available for transfer despite manager Mauricio Pochettino underlining his importance over recent months.

However, the decision would not be a popular one with Petit after the season in which Gallagher has really nailed down a starting role in Chelsea's first XI alongside Moises Caicedo and Enzo Fernandez in midfield, as well as captaining the club on occasion.

»Boehly has signed so many players that he may have to get rid of Gallagher, one of their most important players. He’s one of the only leaders, too, so it really is crazy to be a Chelsea fan right now.
«I’m happy I wasn’t around in the Boehly era.»
