Former Liverpool midfielder Gary McAllister says his contacts in Portugal have told him that Ruben Amorim would be a 'suitable' replacement for Jurgen Klopp.
The Sporting CP manager was installed as the new favourite to succeed the German at the end of the season after Xabi Alonso expressed his intentions to remain at Bayer Leverkusen. Alonso emerged as the early contender to be the next Reds manager after Klopp's shock announcement in January but his admission last week ruled him out of the running.
As a result, Amorim has become the new favourite as speculation begins to grow surrounding the 35-year-old's future. The Portuguese ended Sporting's 19-year wait to be crowned champions of Portugal in 2022 and two years on, he is closing in on a second title win with the Lions.

Former Reds midfielder McAllister believes Amorim's status as favourite isn't false and declared that the bookmakers are rarely wrong.
"The speculation is rife and it's going to be like that until the end of the season as well," the Scot told TNT Sports. "I would say, the bookies are very rarely wrong, I would say a lot of Liverpool fans were disappointed when Xabi Alonso pulled himself out of the race, Amorim looks the big favourite.
"He's got the style, the method, I don't know Sporting greatly but people in Portugal are telling me he'd suit this club.
"He has to be careful that he doesn't disrespect Sporting because he's in a job, it's difficult when you're speaking about people in jobs. At some point, he's saying all the right things focusing on trying to win the league in Portugal, we'll see.," he added.
