Manchester City superfan Noel Gallagher loves Pep Guardiola, but not his views on other sports.
The Oasis and High Flying Birds frontman is a regular at the Etihad, and has often been pictured with the legendary Spanish coach after the club’s greatest achievements.
Their friendship extends to meeting up for lunch together, but the conversation doesn’t always go well, as Gallagher told talkSPORT.
“I’ve been to lunch with him and he was going on about golf that day and he had a go at me about not playing golf,” Gallagher said.
“No way, [would I play it] no. It’s the death of everything. I watched the last ten minutes of the Ryder Cup, that will be it.
“I don’t like it, when I hear rockstars are playing golf I think that’s the end of everything, but he was going on about playing golf.”
Gallagher then talked about his relationship with Guardiola, who has quickly become arguably the most important figure in City’s history.
Since his arrival from Bayern Munich in 2016, the 52-year-old has won five Premier League titles and ten other honours.
That culminated in a historic treble win last season, capturing City’s first Champions League crown and Guardiola’s third.
Explaining what makes the manager so special, Gallagher said: ”When you see him in his interviews, he’s like that, he’s kind of mesmerising in a way.
“He’s one of those guys, when he first met my kids, they were only small at the time, he got down on his haunches and was engaging with them there and you can see how if you were a young player you’d be mesmerised.
“He comes with the record and the trophies and players seem to love him, and he’s got that thing, whatever that thing is.”
He later added: “When he leaves he’ll go down as our greatest-ever manager I think.”
