Polokwane City will be hoping to protect an undefeated run when they travel to Peter Mokaba Stadium for a PSL clash against Sekhukhune United on Sunday.
This is the first DStv Premiership meeting between the sides. Though they have met in the second tier in the 2020-21 season.
The last meeting between the teams saw Sekhukhune Utd emerge victorious 2-0 in their Motsepe Foundation match against Polokwane City at home in May 2021. In the earlier meeting between the teams that season, Sekhukhune won 3-0 on 2 January 2021.
While this is the first meeting between the teams in the top flight, Sekhukhune United are featuring in a Limpopo Derby for the seventh time since coming into the top flight in 2021-22. Their record reads P6 W2 D1 L3.
In 2021-22, they lost to Baroka away 1-0 and won 4-0 at home against them, while they lost at home to Marumo Gallants and drew 2-2 away. Last season in two games against Marumo Gallants, they won at home 3-2 and lost 2-0 away.
In their first season in the top flight in 2021-22, Sekhukhune played games in Johannesburg.
In their last six league matches, Sekhukhune Utd have won two, drawn one and lost three. Polokwane, meanwhile, have won three, drawn one and lost two in their last six.
Polokwane City are the 3rd team from the Limpopo province that Sekhukhune United will face in the top flight, while Sekhukhune becomes the third different team from Limpopo along with Black Leopards and Baroka that they will face in the top flight.
