Since joining Paris Saint-Germain in the summer, it has been a long trip down memory lane for France international Ousmane Dembélé (26), who in the space of just one season, will have faced all three of his former sides.
Over the course of his career, Dembélé has played for four different clubs, including PSG. Having begun his career at Stade Rennais, he then made the step to Borussia Dortmund in 2016 for a €35m fee. A €135m move to Barcelona followed just one season later.
After six years with La Blaugrana, Dembélé then joined PSG this summer for €50m, bringing an end to his injury-hit spell in Catalunya. He is now coming back to haunt his former sides. Having registered an assist in a 3-1 victory against Rennes earlier this season, he did greater damage against Barcelona.
He has only scored three goals in all competitions this season, but two of those have come against former side Barcelona. Those goals proved decisive. His two goals, one in each leg, allowed PSG to beat Barcelona 6-4 on aggregate in their UEFA Champions League quarter-final.
PSG’s next opponent in the Champions League? Borussia Dortmund – another one of Dembélé’s clubs. He has come back to haunt his former sides this season, sending a warning sign to Dortmund.
