William Gallas and Marcel Desailly have made their predictions for Chelsea's clash against Arsenal this weekend. The Blues will welcome Mikel Arteta's side to Stamford Bridge on Saturday afternoon in what is poised to be a blockbuster London derby.
While the Gunners have enjoyed an unbeaten start to the new Premier League season, Desailly has backed Chelsea to catch their rivals off guard and finally end their rivals' streak. In an interview with Gambling Zone, the former Blues defender said: «It looks impossible, but I’ll go for a 3-1 win [to Chelsea].
»Why not? This is the beauty of the Premier League. As soon as a team has a mental drop and isn’t ready for the intensity of a match, they can lose. When Arsenal players arrive at Chelsea, they may believe that it won’t be as difficult as it would at Tottenham, City, or eventually, Man United.
«Those kinds of stadiums get players ready for the battle. When teams come to Chelsea, they’ll think they can win, despite how talented their players are. The mental preparation will automatically drop, even if you try to control it.»
Chelsea have lost each of their last three Premier League games against Arsenal at Stamford Bridge. In fact, the Blues' last win over the Gunners on home turf in the English top-flight came in August 2018 – and only just, thanks to a late goal from Marcos Alonso.
Nevertheless, Gallas has also predicted a four-goal thriller at Stamford Bridge this weekend. Speaking to Lord Ping, the former Chelsea and Arsenal defender said: «Arsenal are looking good at the moment, and Chelsea are still in trouble despite winning their last game.
