According to RMC Sport, Real Madrid do indeed retain their interest in Paris Saint-Germain forward Kylian Mbappé (24), contrary to reports coming from Spain.
A report from Cadena SER on Wednesday revealed that Los Blancos had decided against recruiting long-term target Mbappé next summer. The France captain has seemingly been on the verge of joining the La Liga club for the past two summers. In the summer of 2022, all signs pointed towards a departure from PSG, but ultimately, he remained with Les Parisiens, signing an extension that keeps him at the club until the summer of 2024.
In the previous transfer window, Mbappé omitted from PSG’s pre-season tour of Japan and South Korea due to his refusal to sign a contract renewal with the club. PSG fear losing the world’s most valuable player on a free. From January, Mbappé can negotiate with other clubs, and the expectation is that Real Madrid will return for the player that they have coveted for many years.
However, according to Cadena SER, Real Madrid will not return for Mbappé this summer due to financial, sporting and image-based reasons. The club also don’t want to risk harming the dynamic within the dressing room by bringing in a player on such a high salary.
However, according to RMC Sport, this story, leaked by the club itself, is a means of preserving Real Madrid’s image in the event that they fail to tempt Mbappé to the Bernabeu this summer.
