According to Ouest-France this morrning, the Bretons are closing in on the signing of Nemanja Matić from Roma. The Serbian international, whose contract with the Giallorossi expires at the end of the upcoming campaign, is said to be willing to lower his €4m a year salary, while the Serie A side themselves are open to letting the 35-year-old leave.
The former Chelsea and Manchester United man has been playing in the Italian capital for the past year, where he has crossed paths with José Mourinho for the third time in his career. He made 50 appearances in all competitions last season, and notably helped Roma reach the Europa League final.
Matić’s arrival is also expected to make up for the likely departure of Xeka, with the 28-year-old Portuguese midfielder likely to leave just one season after joining from Lille.
